PM Holness appeals to citizens without power to refrain from blocking roadways

Prime Minister Andrew Holness is appealing to citizens without power to refrain from blocking roadways, as they register their frustration over the delays in the restoration efforts.

Hurricane Beryl hit the island two weeks ago and despite the continued effort of the Jamaica Public Service company (JPS), many citizens are still without electricity.

Some of them took to the streets yesterday, mounting roadblocks in Hart Hill, Portland and Sheffield, Westmoreland.

Addressing the issue in Parliament yesterday, Mr. Holness pleaded with affected customers to be patient.

He said while he understands their irritation, blocking the roadways will only further hamper restoration efforts.

Mr. Holness also assured that Energy Minister Darly Vaz is keeping the JPS accountable, as it works to reconnect people to the grid.
