PM Holness appeals for patience from motorists using Yallahs Pond and Pamphret roadway, in St. Thomas, as rehabilitation work gets underway

Prime Minister Andrew Holness has appealed for patience and cooperation from motorists using the Yallahs Pond and Pamphret roadway in St. Thomas.

This, as rehabilitation work gets underway to fix the deteriorating road surface.

Government has indicated that China Harbour Engineering Company (CHEC), is carrying out the repair works at no cost to tax payers.

Mr. Holness visited the affected site yesterday to conduct assessments.

He noted that during the passage of Hurricane Beryl, a section of the sea wall was impacted, resulting in damage to the roadway.

He assured that the government will remain vigilant, proactive and transparent as the contractors move forward with the works.

Meantime, the National Works Agency (NWA) has advised that a section of the Bull Bay main road will be reduced to single lane traffic.

The traffic change will impact a section of the Westbound Carriageway, heading from the direction of Yallahs.

NWA said work will commence today on the section of road in the vicinity of the Sun Coast development.

The section of road forms part of the Southern Coastal Highway Improvement Project.

The work is slated to last one week.

During this time a defect to an underpass will be remedied.
