PM Holness announces $1.4 billion allocation for response to impacts of last week’s heavy rains
Prime Minister Andrew Holness has indicated that $1.4 billion will be allocated for government’s response to the impacts of last week’s heavy rains.
The money will be used for infrastructure and housing repairs.
Funding and related projects will be channelled through the Housing Ministry, the National Works Agency, and the National Solid Waste Management Authority.
Speaking in the lower house today, Mr. Holness outlined the breakdown of the funding for each constituency, and how it’s expected to be spent in responding to various rain impacts.
For example, each constituency will get $22 million, for civil works.
Mr. Holness also said $330 million will go towards repairing damaged homes.
