Phoenix boss Craig Butler new co-owner of JPL club Vere United
Founder of Phoenix All Star Football Academy and President of Phoenix Sports Management Craig Butler is the new joint owner of Clarendon-based Jamaica Premier League club Vere United.
It is understood that Butler and his team inked a 10-year agreement with club President Lothan Cousins and will assume management of Vere United on football related matters and the overall development of the club.
Vere formerly Jamalco FC will now go by the name Vere Phoenix United.
In the past, Butler, who is also the agent of Aston Villa winger Leon Bailey and Chelsea’s Dujuan Richards, has been involved in local football at various levels.
Last season he guided Mona High School to an historic first ISSA Manning Cup title and had a short stint in charge of Humble Lion in the 2014 top flight season.
His team Phoenix Academy currently plays in the St. Ann Division One.
Along with work in youth football Butler served as President and coached at St Andrew’s FC in Malta and recently partnered with Belgian third division club URSL Vise.
Vere United last season finished ninth on the Jamaica Premier League standings having recorded seven wins, six draws and thirteen losses to end on 27 points.
