Peter Tosh and Keznamdi documentaries nominated in inaugural Caribbean Film Awards

 

 

 

The docuseries Peter Tosh Town: Origin of a Rebel Wailer and Beach Inna Bondage: The Fight for Jamaica’s Coastline have been nominated in the best documentary category for the inaugural Caribbean Film Awards, scheduled for Saturday, October 10, at Theatre N in Wilmington, Delaware.

Peter Tosh Town: Origin of a Rebel Wailer narrated by Andy Livingston and directed in part by Tosh’s daughter, Niambe, explores the extraordinary life and legacy of Peter Tosh.

The film traces Tosh’s journey from his early beginnings in Belmont, Westmoreland, to his rise as a member of the Wailers and his evolution as a solo artiste, whom the world came to know as the Steppin’ Razor.

Meanwhile, Beach Inna Bondage: The Fight for Jamaica’s Coastline, directed by Emiel Martens and Elsie Vermeer in collaboration with JaBBEM and reggae artiste, Keznamdi, chronicles the grassroots movement to reclaim public access to Jamaica’s beaches. The film amplifies the voices of communities fighting to protect the nation’s shoreline, cultural heritage, and the fundamental right to access its natural treasures.
