Persons occupying lands impacted by irrigation expansion project in Pedro Plains, St. Elizabeth to get titles free of cost
Over a thousand residents of Pedro Plains in St. Elizabeth, who occupy lands that will be impacted by the irrigation expansion project will get land titles free of cost.
Agriculture minister Floyd Green made the announcement during the project’s ground breaking ceremony, yesterday.
He explained that the preliminary design of the project requires pipelines to be run through several properties.
Green said upon realsing that some persons lacked documentation for the land they occupied, the government decided to assist in rectifying the issue.
He said this initiative is a critical step in securing land tenure for residents.
A hundred titles were distributed during the ground breaking ceremony, yesterday.
The others will be given out at a later date.
