Pan-Africanists gather in Kingston and Montego Bay to support Burkina Faso’s President
Scores of Pan-Africanists are gathering in Kingston and Montego Bay, St. James to show their support for Burkina Faso’s transitional president Captain Ibrahim Traore.
Tensions are escalating between the United States and several West African nations after US General Michael Langley accused Captain Traore of diverting the country’s gold reserves to secure his regime.
People across the globe, including Jamaica have united in support of Traore.
Today’s rally in the country is organised by the Rastafari Mansions and Organisations.
Supporters bearing placards and beating drums gathered at the Emancipation Park this morning, before making their journey to the Haile Selassie High School.
They will then visit the US Embassy in Liguanea at 3:00 P.M.
A group is also at the Sam Sharpe Square in Montego Bay, St. James.
Rastafari High Priest Wesley Kelly was among those supporters.
He noted the importance of the liberation of Black Africa and praised the work of Burkina Faso’s president.
