P M Holness: work to begin soon on 2 major road projects in St Ann
Work on two major projects aimed at reducing traffic congestion along the north coast highway in St. Ann, is expected to get underway soon.
Among the projects, is the addition of two more lanes to the north coast highway.
Speaking in St. Ann today, Prime Minister Andrew Holness said that project will entail construction of under-passes and side roads, to facilitate the free flow of vehicular traffic for local residents.
In recent times, residents have complained about traffic congestion between Ocho Rios and St. Ann’s Bay, with a higher concentration in the Mammee Bay area.
The Prime Minister also noted plans to extend the north south highway to Trelawny.
The north south highway connects the south coast via Caymanas in St. Catherine to the north coast via Mammee Bay in St. Ann.
Mr. Holness said the extension would help to mitigate the build-up of traffic along the north coast.
