Over 560,000 traffic tickets issued in 2024; PSTEB hoping more motorists will comply with regulations

After issuing over 560,000 traffic tickets in 2024, the Constabulary’s Public Safety and Enforcement Branch (P-STEB) is hoping that this year more motorists will comply with Road Traffic Regulations.

Head of PSTEB Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), Gary McKenzie told Irie FM News that this hope for increased compliance, directly aligns with the constabulary’s goal of reducing road fatalities this year.

2024 saw a 14 percent reduction in the number of road deaths, when compared with 2023.

364 people were killed on the nation’s roadways last year, while 425 were killed in 2023.

ACP McKenzie said a further reduction is needed this year, as such adherence to road rules is necessary.

He warned that lawmen will take action if motorists refuse to comply with road traffic regulations.
