Opposition Spokesperson on Human Rights, Isat Buchanan is demanding answers in relation to yesterday’s demolition exercise in Cooper’s Pen, Trelawny.
Several homes were destroyed during the demolition.
It’s reported that the operation was executed by a private owner following a court ruling.
In a statement this morning, Mr. Buchanan noted that regardless of the legal status of the land, every citizen is entitled to be treated with dignity.
He also expressed concern over the reported role of the police during the Cooper’s Pen operation.
Mr. Buchanan is questioning whether residents affected in yesterday’s Cooper’s Pen demolition exercise will be compensated for their destroyed belongings.
