Opposition Spokesman on Security Senator Peter Bunting says reduction in murders for 2025 first quarter indicates that SOEs are inefficient
Opposition Spokesperson on Security, Senator Peter Bunting says the 35% reduction in murders for the first quarter of this year, in comparison to the similar period last year, demonstrates that states of public emergency (SOEs) are inefficient.
According to the Jamaica Constabulary Force, as at March 29, 181 murders were committed in comparison to 277 in the corresponding period last year.
The Opposition Spokesman on Security says the use of SOEs by the government has resulted in the loss of lives as opposed to curtailing murders.
Mr. Bunting added that he finds it suspicious that the government is contemplating the use of social intervention campaigns to tackle crime.
He chastised the government for rejecting previous social intervention campaigns.
