Opposition Spokesman on Health, Dr. Alfred Dawes says current approach of Jamaica’s policy makers will lead to further decline in the health sector
Opposition Spokesperson on Health Dr. Alfred Dawes says Jamaica’s health system will experience a further decline with the current approach of policymakers.
During an Instagram Live last evening Dr. Dawes lamented that there are no meaningful attempts at fixing the country’s health system.
His comment follows yesterday’s press briefing at the Bustamante Hospital for Children in Kingston in the wake of reports that a child was unable to do a surgery due to issues with an operating theatre.
During the briefing, Health Minister Dr. Christopher Tufton acknowledged the challenges being faced by the sector and noted that measures were being implemented to address them.
However, Dr. Dawes maintained that his government counterpart is not doing what is necessary to effectively deal with the country’s health problems.
According to Dr. Dawes, yesterday’s tour of the Bustamante Hospital was not enough to assure Jamaicans.
