Opposition Senator Damion Crawford urges Jamaicans to invest more in local manufacturing to boost the nation’s productivity
Opposition Senator Damion Crawford is urging Jamaicans to invest more in local manufacturing in an effort to boost the nation’s productivity.
Speaking in the Senate today, Crawford said it is a given that service industries are lower in productivity.
He said the structure of Jamaica’s economy must be reviewed.
Meantime, government senator Dr. Dana Morris-Dixon agreed that improved productivity will be a critical component if Jamaica is to see sustained economic growth.
She however noted the importance of integrating technology in production.
Both Senators were making contributions to the debate on the appropriations bill in the senate earlier today.
