Opposition says new road rules will not make a difference without proper enforcement
The new Road Traffic Regulations will not make a difference on the country’s roads without proper enforcement.
That’s according to Opposition Spokesman on Transport, Mikael Phillips.
Speaking in Parliament yesterday (July 5), Mr. Phillips noted that while the regulations are welcome, the country has oftentimes seen less than effective enforcement of laws already existing.
Meantime, Mr Phillips lamented that a public education campaign should have been implemented months ago to educate citizens about the changes in the regulations.
His sentiments were shared by Health and Wellness Minister Dr. Christopher Tufton who noted that too many citizens end up in hospital or dead because they do not adhere to the regulations of the road.
