Opposition Senator Damion Crawford has requested a status report on the programme of compensation to residents affected by dust in bauxite mining areas.
Senator Crawford wants to know if the payments are still being distributed and how much is owed to citizens.
He posed the questions at Friday’s sitting of the senate, during discussions on issues relating to the bauxite sector
According to Senator Crawford, many citizens who suffered extensive damage, including impacts to water catchments due to the dust have not been compensated for up to 3 years.
