Opposition says it will not engage in political gimmickry with government by participating in unnecessary by-elections
People’s National Party (PNP) President Mark Golding says his party will not engage in political gimmickry with the government by participating in unnecessary by-elections.
Mr. Golding made the statement while speaking yesterday at a PNP meeting in South Trelawny, following nomination activities for the by-election in the constituency.
The PNP did not nominate a candidate to contest against the JLP’s Marisa Dalrymple Philibert.
However the party had a gathering with supporters of Paul Patmore, who is expected to contest on its ticket in the next general election.
Speaking at the gathering, Mr. Golding again urged Prime Minister Andrew Holness to call the general elections.
He added that the PNP is working on presenting the best slate of candidates for the upcoming polls.
