The Opposition People’s National Party (PNP) has renewed its call for Dennis Chung to resign as Chief Technical Director of the Financial Investigations Division (FID)

Mr. Chung’s appointment took effect last Monday, June 2.

Prior to his assumption, the PNP had expressed concern about a possible conflict of interest.

It said Mr. Chung made public pronouncements on cases which are being investigated by the FID, including one relating to the statutory declarations of the Prime Minister.

The Government has maintained that due process was followed in Mr. Chung’s selection.

However, the PNP continues to call for the appointment to be rescinded and staged a protest in Kingston last week to amplify the appeal.

PNP President Mark Golding renewed the call at the Party’s North West St. Ann Rally Sunday evening.

He urged Mr. Chung to step back.
