Opposition Leader Mark Golding supports Bunting and his comments regarding interdiction of ex-Police Federation Chairman
Opposition Leader Mark Golding has expressed support for Opposition Spokesman on National Security, Peter Bunting, and his comments regarding the interdiction of former Police Federation Chairman, Corporal Rohan James.
This, as he responded to a letter from National Security Minister Dr. Horace Chang.
Dr. Chang had written to Mr. Golding, calling on him to ensure that the policy and practice of separating police operations from political interference be maintained.
The letter followed comments made by Mr. Bunting at the recent Police Federation Conference.
Mr. Bunting had accused the Police High Command of attempting to muzzle the Federation and union busting.
In his response to Dr. Chang, Mr. Golding said the Minister’s suggestion that public commentary on the issues crosses a line, is misplaced and unfortunate.
Mr. Golding urged Dr. Chang to address the issues of accountability within the force.
