Opposition Leader Mark Golding says a future People’s National Party Government will restart the Constitutional reform process to include civil society

Opposition Leader Mark Golding says a future People’s National Party Government will restart the Constitutional reform process aimed at removing King Charles III as Jamaica’s Head of State and installing a Jamaican President.

He says the reform effort, initiated by the Jamaica Labour Party, contains elements worth keeping, but emphasises the need to restart the process to ensure greater involvement from civil society.

Mr. Golding described participatory democracy as a core value of the People’s National Party.

He stressed that the Party’s priority is full repatriation from the United Kingdom, which includes adopting the Caribbean Court of Justice in place of the UK Privy Council.

Golding was speaking at a parish meeting on Saturday in Chapelton Square, Clarendon.
