Opposition hits back at PM for alleged confusion about existence of digital currency mandate for country
Opposition Leader Mark Golding has hit back at Prime Minister Andrew Holness, saying the country’s leader is confused about whether or not he has a digital mandate for the country.
Mr. Golding recently questioned the government’s thrust towards digital currency noting that there has also been very little preparation of the society for this.
In recent times the Prime Minister has posited that Jamaica is well on its way to becoming a digital society and said government must take deliberate steps to transition to a digital economy.
However, following the Opposition Leader’s claim that the government had a digital currency mandate, the Prime Minister stressed that there is no attempt by the government to remove cash or paper money from the system.
Reacting to that recent declaration at the weekend, the Opposition Leader said the Prime Minister appears to be confused.
