Justice Winston Anderson has been appointed President of the Caribbean Court of Justice (CCJ), becoming the first Jamaican to hold the position.

He succeeds outgoing President Justice Adrian Saunders from St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

In a statement, the Opposition People’s National Party (PNP) congratulated Justice Anderson, calling his elevation to the presidency of the CCJ historic.

The Opposition highlighted that Anderson was also the first Jamaican appointed to the CCJ in 2010.

Opposition Spokesperson on Justice, Senator Donna Scott-Mottley, said that Justice Anderson’s appointment as President is a testament to his unwavering dedication to the rule of law and his exemplary service to the Caribbean legal community.

She added that his leadership will undoubtedly strengthen the CCJ’s role in upholding justice and fostering regional unity.

The Opposition expressed full confidence in his ability to lead the CCJ with integrity and vision, noting that his presidency marks a significant milestone for Jamaica and the wider Caribbean, reflecting the region’s commitment to judicial excellence.
