Opposition condemns attack on St Ann’s Bay Mayor Belnavis
The Opposition People’s National Party (PNP) has condemned the violent attack on St. Ann’s Bay Mayor Michael Belnavis.
Mr. Belnavis was reportedly wounded by an unknown assailant at his residence in St. Mary on Monday night.
The Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) said the mayor sustained non-life threatening injuries.
In a statement today, junior spokesperson on security Jouvaughnie Byfield said the violent act is completely unacceptable and highlights the ongoing need for decisive action to address crime.
He further called on Jamaicans to stand united in condemning the act of violence and to work towards creating a safer environment for all citizens.
