Opposition concerned that local farmers continue to be impacted negatively by importation of farm produce
Opposition Spokesman on Agriculture Dr. Dayton Campbell has expressed concern that local farmers continue to be impacted negatively by the importation of farm produce.
According to Dr. Campbell, who is also General Secretary of the People’s National Party (PNP), Jamaica continues to import vegetables such as onions, despite local farmers having challenges finding market for their goods.
Speaking during Sunday’s presentation of Norman Scott as PNP candidate for southeast St. Elizabeth, Dr. Campbell criticized Agriculture Minister Floyd Green and State Minister of Agriculture Franklin Witter for not doing more for local farmers.
Dr. Campbell also noted that Jamaicans continue to be affected by the high cost of living under the Jamaica Labour Party government.
