Opposition calls on gov’t to outline plan of absorption of deportees
The Opposition People’s National Party (PNP) is calling on the Government to outline a plan of absorption of the deported individuals into the country.
This follows concerns over reports that over five thousand Jamaicans are expected to be deported from the United States as that country clamps down on illegal immigrants, based on new orders from President Donald Trump.
Yesterday, the Foreign Affairs Minister Kamina Johnson Smith said the National Security Council is assessing risks associated with the deportation of Jamaicans with serious criminal backgrounds from the U.S and is formulating strategies to mitigate potential threats.
Deputy Opposition Spokesperson on Foreign and Regional Affairs Christopher Henry is calling on the Government to give the details of the plan.
