Opposition calls on Auditor General to probe hiring practices at the Cannabis Licensing Authority
The opposition People’s National Party (PNP) is urging the Auditor General to conduct an immediate and thorough investigation into public complaints and concerns about the hiring practices at the Cannabis Licensing Authority (CLA).
In a statement issued today, Opposition Spokesperson on Investment, Anthony Hylton, claimed reports suggest that hiring decisions are being influenced by political connections rather than qualifications.
He said this practice undermines established human resource policies, including a committee dedicated to vetting employment applications.
Speaking in an interview with IRIE FM News, Mr. Hylton said ongoing controversies surrounding the CLA, cast doubt on the administration’s integrity and its commitment to the development of the industry.
