Opposition calls for new hospital in Westmoreland
Opposition Spokesman on Health, Dr. Alfred Dawes says a new hospital is needed in Westmoreland.
Speaking during a tour of the Savanna-la-Mar Public General Hospital today, Dr. Dawes said overcrowding at the facility is a major issue.
He said a new hospital will improve the delivery of healthcare in the parish.
Dr. Dawes is also calling for a comprehensive development plan for the Petersfield Health Centre in Westmoreland.
He expressed concerns that the health centre is unable to cater to the growing population.
Dr. Dawes believes that with the right improvements, the facility could serve the community better and ease the pressure on the Savanna-la-Mar Health Centre.
