Opposition calling on BOJ to provide update on compliance of banks in the operation of AMBs

The Opposition is calling on the Bank of Jamaica (BOJ) to provide an update on the compliance of banks in the operation of automated banking machines (ABMs).

Reports have emerged of issues with some ABMs across the country as the Yuletide season approaches.

The reports follow a recent commitment from the central bank that citizens will not experience issues with ABMs this Christmas.

Speaking to IRIE FM News, Opposition Spokesperson on Finance Julian Robinson called for the BOJ to indicate whether or not banks have been complying with the standards for ABM operations.

He said the situation will become worse as Christmas approaches when cash circulation will be high across the island.

Mr. Robinson said the public needs to know if the banks have been complying with the standards and what the BOJ will do to ensure that they comply.
