Operators of NMIA say work has begun to address cooling issue at the airport

Work has begun to address the cooling issue at the Norman Manley International Airport (NMIA) in Kingston.

Chief executive officer at PAC Kingston Airport Limited, Sitara English-Byfield made the disclosure during a media briefing and airport tour today.

The update follows concern raised by members of the public about the high temperatures at the airport.

Persons have called for the cooling units to be properly maintained or replaced.

Providing an update, Mrs. English-Byfield said all four chillers at the airport have been replaced.

She added that eight of the estimated 55 air handling units at the airport have been replaced and another 10 will be replaced by December.

Efforts to replace others will start in 2025.
