Only 29 roadways remain impassable following the passage of Hurricane Beryl

The National Works Agency (NWA) says works continue to clear some 29 roadways, which remain impassable following the passage of Hurricane Beryl last week.

In a statement today, the NWA said most of these roads are in Hanover, Clarendon and St. Andrew.

At noon today, there were 6 corridors still impassable in each of these parishes.

All roads in 6 parishes have been re-opened fully or to single lane.

These are Portland, Westmoreland, Trelawny, St. Ann, Kingston and St. Mary.

Noting that the agency received reports on 476 road sections, Communications Manager at the NWA, Stephen Shaw said 94% of these have been reopened.

He said 39% have been fully reopened while another 55% have been reopened to single lane traffic.

Meantime, Mr. Shaw is urging motorists to exercise extreme caution while using intersections where the traffic lights are out of service.
