Ongoing curfew in Porus, Manchester expected to end today following meeting with police, residents and business community

A curfew which has been ongoing in Porus, Manchester since October is expected to end today.

This follows a follow-up meeting involving the police, residents, politicians and business people on Friday.

Head of the Manchester Police Deputy Superintendent Carey Duncan made the commitment to lift the curfew when it expires on Monday on the basis that the area remains crime-free.

The announcement came on the heels of a town hall last Wednesday in Porus, where residents blasted the police for not taking their livelihoods into consideration.

Meanwhile, Mayor of Mandeville Donovan Mitchell who has criticised the measure, welcomed the news and committed to work with the police.

However, he called for greater communication between the police and citizens.
