One person is dead and several others are in hospital, following a motor vehicle crash along Washington Boulevard, near New Haven, in St. Andrew this morning. 

The identity of the deceased has not been released.  

Head of the Public Safety and Traffic Enforcement Branch, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Gary Mckenzie, said the crash occurred at around 9 A.M. 

He explained that information is still being collated to determine how many people were injured. 

ACP Mckenzie said preliminary information revealed that speeding played a critical role in the crash. 

He reiterated the call for motorists to exercise caution when traversing the nation’s roadways.
