One man in police custody and 3 others hospitalized, following shooting at Big Wall event in St. Andrew last evening
One man is in police custody, and 3 others are hospitalized, with one in critical condition, following a shooting incident at the Big Wall Carnival after-party in St. Andrew last evening.
The incident occurred at about 9:30 P.M. at the Ranny Williams Entertainment Centre.
Police reports indicate that the shooting stemmed from a physical confrontation between two men, during which other individuals intervened, leading to an escalation and the discharge of firearms.
Three men were shot and wounded.
They were transported to the University Hospital of the West Indies, where they are receiving treatment.
Police say one of the wounded is an American National.
Two firearms were recovered following the incident and several spent casings were found at the scene.
Meanwhile, in a statement, the organisers of the event say, they are deeply troubled by the incident and extended well wishes to the wounded.
They also confirmed that they are cooperating fully with the Jamaica Constabulary Force and have begun reviewing security measures in collaboration with law enforcement and private security teams.
