One man hospitalized following motor vehicle crash along Edward Seaga highway

One man has been hospitalised after he sustained injuries in a motor vehicle crash along the St. Catherine leg of the Edward Seaga highway, earlier today.

The Jamaica North South Highway company limited said the highway patrol officer was pinned inside the patrol bus, after a truck, laden with aggregate, fell on top of it.

The injured employee is reportedly in stable condition and is being kept for observation and further checks.

A representative of the company told Irie F M News that the patrol officer was responding to distress calls about a disabled truck along the highway, when the incident occurred.

It’s not clear what was the initial issue with the truck.

When the truck fell on top of the patrol bus the aggregate spilled onto the roadway.

The overturned vehicle and material caused congestion on the north bound lane, between Linstead and Unity Valley.

The police and fire brigade were summoned and efforts are being made to clear the roadway.

Motorists are being urged to use  alternative routes.
