Olympic Way residents protest fatal crash involving police
Scores of residents of Olympic Way in St. Andrew blocked several roadways in the community, today after a man was killed in a crash involving police, lastnight.
Dead is 21-year-old Jaheim Morrison of Guava Road in Kingston 11.
Another man was injured in the incident.
Police reports are that at about 11:50 p.m., Morrison was driving a missile motorcycle with the man as a pillion rider.
On reaching a section of the roadway, a police vehicle collided with the bike.
Morrison, the pillion rider and two police officers sustained injuries and were taken to hospital where Morrison was pronounced dead.
Residents have questioned the circumstances surrounding his death.
The residents who used debris, stones and burning tyres to block several roadways in the community are demanding justice.
Meantime Head of the Constabulary Communications Network, Senior Superintendent Stephanie Lindsay said following dialogue with the commanding officer for St. Andrew South residents assured that they would remove the blockades.
And, Assistant Commissioner of the Independent Commission of Investigations, (Indecom) Hamish Campbell is urging witnesses to assist investigators in their probe.
