Olympic finalist Romaine Beckford second at New Balance Indoor Grand Prix

Olympic finalist Romaine Beckford was the best placed Jamaican at the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix in Boston on Sunday. 

This after he took second in the men’s high jump, with a leap measuring 2.19 meters, as the event was won by Vernon Turner of the United States who was credited with the same height.  

Meanwhile, national 100 metre hurdles record holder Ackera Nugent was a fourth place finisher in the Women’s 60 meter hurdles, after crossing the line in 7.92 seconds. 

Taking first place was Olympic champion Masai Russell of the USA in a season’s best of 7.80 seconds. 

Imani Oliver, the other Jamaican at the meet, was fifth in the Women’s triple jump, with a leap measuring 13.22 meters achieved on her first attempt. 

Another Caribbean athlete Jereen Richards of Trinidad and Tobago was third in the men’s 400 meters in 46.49 seconds behind winner, the American high school sensation Quincy Wilson who posted an indoor personal best 45.66 seconds.
