Office of Political Ombudsman urges cooperation with lawmen as probe continues into alleged shooting incident in Kingston Central Constituency
The Office of the Political Ombudsman (OPO) is urging cooperation with lawmen as they investigate an alleged shooting incident, involving Member of Parliament, Donovan Williams.
The incident reportedly happened last night, while Mr. Williams was conducting campaign duties in his Kingston Central Constituency.
No one was reportedly injured.
In a statement this afternoon, the OPO said it has taken note of the incident.
It added that while the circumstances surrounding the event remain unconfirmed, it is urging calm and cooperation with lawmen as they continue their probe.
The OPO said it remains adamant that acts of violence, retaliation and intimidation, politically motivated or otherwise, should not be accepted or tolerated.
It warned that incidents of violence threaten to unravel the fabric of democracy which Jamaica has worked tirelessly to maintain.
Meanwhile, MP Williams said he is grateful that no one was hurt.
He also noted that his team will not be intimidated.
