ODPEM says close to 500 persons are in shelters across the island
Prime Minister Andrew Holness says attention will be placed on people in shelters to ensure their needs are met.
The Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management (ODPEM) says close to 500 persons are in shelters across the island.
Mr. Holness and Local Government Minister Desmond Mckenzie toured the ODPEM command centre today.
Mr. Holness says the disaster relief agency has supplies to distribute to those in shelters.
The Prime Minister says he will be seeking reports from the National Works Agency on the hurricane’s impact on coastal infrastructure and on flooding.
He is expecting the report at about 7 PM.
Meanwhile, Mr. Holness says while the curfew will be lifted at 6 PM persons should remain at home until ODPEM gives the all clear.
