October 7 officially designated as National Anti-bullying Day

October 7 has been officially designated as National Anti-bullying Day.

The initiative was successfully championed by the Child Protection and Family Services Agency, (CPFSA) under the leadership of the Education Ministry.

The CPFSA and the ministry made the revelation in separate releases today.

They said the proclamation signed by Governor General Sir Patrick Allen reinforces the country’s collective resolve to confront bullying in all its forms and to protect the dignity and well-being of children and young people.

Education Minister Dr. Dana Morris-Dixon described the proclamation as a milestone.

And Chief Executive Officer of the CPFSA Laurette Adams-Thomas said the move signals Jamaica’s unified effort to tackle bullying in schools and communities.
