Ocho Rios High docked six points by ISSA for using ineligible player

Ocho Rios High have been docked six points by the Inter-Secondary Schools Sport Association (ISSA) for the use of an ineligible player against Ferncourt High against Marcus Garvey Technical.

The player in question, according to ISSA in a statement, “accumulated three (3) yellow cards and hence was ineligible to play in the team’s next match.”

The Based on rule A.15 “If a player receives 3 yellow cards in the preliminary round, he will automatically miss his team next match” (ISSA 2024 Schoolboy Football Handbook).” the statement added.

“He was ineligible to play in Ocho Rios High’s match on Tuesday, September 24 vs Ferncourt High. He also subsequently played in the match vs Marcus Garvey Technical on Friday, September 27.”

Ocho Rios in those games ran out 10-1 winners over Ferncourt before swamping Marcus Garvey 8-0 to improve to maximum 18 points from 6 games.

According to the governing body the results from both games have been reversed and the “matches will be awarded to the opponent by three (3) goals to nil (0).”

The press release further stated the player remains ineligible to play for Ocho Rios in their in match against Aabuthnott Gallimore High schedule for Wednesday, October 2, 2024.

The loss of the points removes the team’s 100% win record, and top-of-the-table placing after they won all their games in the first round.

Ocho Rios, as a result dropped to second in Zone K on 12 points, a point behind Browns Town who are on 13. Ferncourt are third on goal difference above Marcus Garvey with both teams on 9 points.
