A new business venture for the tourist resort of Ocho Rios was destroyed during Hurricane Beryl.

Chairman of the St. Ann Municipal Corporation Michael Belnavis says the Poko Loko floating bar was dislodged from its location on the Ocho Rios Bay and ended up miles away near Little Dunn’s River. It was smashed into two.

The facility, which was recently opened was, expected to provide employment opportunities for close to 80 persons.

Mayor Belnavis says the floating bar was also looted. He states that this is a devastating loss for the owners.

It’s reported that the project represents an investment of $1 million US.

The Mayor says he hopes the owners will want to continue the business.
