Ocho Rios bomb scare prankster fined $1M or nine months imprisonment
Chevon Flowers, the man who caused a bomb scare in Ocho Rios, St Ann last month, has been fined one million dollars, or nine months imprisonment.
This, as he pleaded guilty to using a computer for malicious communications, when he appeared in the St Catherine Parish Court, today (July 27).
Flowers’ Attorney, Myesha Wilson-Campbell, pleaded with the judge to be lenient, as she argued that her client’s actions had no malicious intent.
However, Senior Parish Court Judge, Desiree Alleyne imposed the sentence.
On June 4, a bomb threat, which was made via social media, disrupted the operations of several businesses in Ocho Rios for several hours, as emergency personnel responded to the threat at the Rubis Gas Station.
No bomb was found after an extensive search was conducted.
Hours later, a man, now identified as Flowers, claimed responsibility for the incident and released a video on social media, saying the threat was a prank.
