NWC says 15% of customers still without water

The National Water Commission says approximately 450,000 households have had their piped water supply restored, following disruptions caused by Hurricane Beryl.

Acting communications manager at NWC Delano Williams told Irie Fm news that this represents 85 per cent of customers who have been reconnected.

He added that at least 13 major towns have also been restored with piped water supply.

Mr. Williams says reconnection in some areas will take some time, because of remote locations.

He said NWC teams are carrying out cleaning up activities in several areas, while awaiting the restoration of electricity to pumping stations.

Mr. Williams said in an effort to keep customers informed, updates are posted on the NWC’s social media platforms.
