NWC pledges support for Meadowbrook High’s September 28 resumption following water shortage

The National Water Commission (NWC) says Meadowbrook High School will be provided with whatever support is requested for the resumption of normal operations on Monday, September 28.
This follows a water shortage that forced the school to close yesterday.
In a statement, the NWC says that private water trucking arrangements were undertaken by the school, resulting in a NWC delivery earmarked for Thursday, September 24, being stood down.
However, the Commission says those private arrangements were delayed which resulted in yesterday’s closure.
The NWC says it considers the situation unfortunate, particularly as its team and the institution have exercised collaborative efforts to ensure continuity of school operations over the past weeks.
As recently as September 22, the NWC says it provided water trucking services to the school.
The Commission says it, along with Education Ministry representatives, have been working through an agreed framework to ensure water is supplied to various learning institutions during the critical drought period.
