NWC assures new designs for its pipelines are climate-resilient
The National Water Commission (NWC) has sought to assure that the new designs for its pipelines are climate-resilient.
Acting Vice President of Operations, Herman Fagan, gave the assurance during Wednesday’s sitting of Parliament’s Public Administration and Appropriation Committee.
He was being questioned by committee member Omar Newell on the capacity of NWC’s pipelines to handle climate risks.
In response, Mr. Fagan explained that while pipes with the archaic design exist, recent works to the network have resulted in newer, more climate-resilient materials being used.
He also noted that the new design is being incorporated in works under the Shared Prosperity Through Accelerated and Improvement to our Road Network (SPARK) programme.
