NWA says Hurricane Melissa caused $30m worth of damage to roadways being rehabilitated under SPARK

Hurricane Melissa resulted in approximately $30 m worth of damage to roadways being rehabilitated under the Shared Prosperity through Accelerated Improvement (SPARK) Programme.

The National Works Agency (NWA) made the revelation during this morning’s meeting of the Public Administration & Appropriation Committee (PAAC).

NWA’s Senior Director of Project Implementation Varden Downer described the damage as not significant, noting that roadways completed before the Hurricane effectively withstood the category 5 winds and conditions.

Mr. Downer said works under SPARK continued following the Hurricane and are slated for completion in April next year.
