Nurses to continue dialogue with Finance Ministry about the compensation review
President of the Nurses Association of Jamaica, NAJ Dawn-Marie Richards says the association will continue its dialogue with the Ministry of Finance on the matter of the implementation of the compensation review.
Yesterday, representatives from NAJ met with Finance Minister Dr. Nigel Clarke to discuss outstanding matters relating to the review.
Speaking with Irie FM News last evening, Ms. Richards said the association is pleased with the outcome of yesterday’s talks and awaits another round of discussions.
Last week, several nurses took industrial action that led to the Finance Ministry engaging the NAJ in a meeting.
According to the South East Regional Health Authority, the Spanish Town, Kingston Public and the Victoria Jubilee Hospitals saw a decline in the number of nurses who showed up for work.
The affected hospitals had to utilize the services of nurses who recently graduated and obtained their licenses.
