North West Manchester MP Mikael Phillips says he submitted documents to the Integrity Commission late and paid the associated fine
Member of Parliament for North West Manchester Mikael Phillips says he had submitted documents to the Integrity Commission late and paid the associated fine.
This, following reports that he is the subject of a yet-to-be-tabled-report from the Commission.
The report was recently sent to Parliament.
In a statement last evening, Phillips explained that his 2022 statutory declaration was late due to a delay in getting all the relevant documents.
Phillips said shortly after the deadline, the documents were submitted and he has since fully complied with all the requirements.
The MP said as a public servant, he takes his responsibilities seriously, and while the statutory declaration was delayed, it is not connected to illicit enrichment.
Phillips said all his statutory declarations have been certified, and the late filing penalty of $250,000 was paid.
He said he remains committed to serving his constituents and the people of Jamaica with integrity, transparency and accountability.
