The Home Circuit Court today heard that Constable Noel Maitland allegedly asked a neighbour to delete footage of him from his cameras in July 2022, around the same time Maitland’s girlfriend Donna-lee Donaldson went missing.

Constable Maitland is on trial for the murder of Donaldson, who disappeared sometime around July 12, 2022.

He is also charged with preventing the lawful burial of a corpse.

The witness testified that Mr Maitland told him he would not want things saved on the cameras, such as him walking by with a spliff to affect him getting a promotion.

The witness also testified that Mr Maitland asked him during a telephone conversation on July 13, 2022, at 7:00 PM if he could take his word that nothing would be saved from the camera.

He said he told Mr Maitland he would have to check when he got home.

The witness testified that Mr Maitland came by his apartment on July 14, 2022, at 11:00 AM to view the footage.

The witness who worked from home said he was in a meeting when Mr Maitland visited, so he sent him a message via WhatsApp advising him. He said Mr Maitland waited at the door for 15 minutes.

The witness said he invited him inside, after which he started to navigate the recording device to locate the requested footage.

The witness also told the court that on the footage on July 11, 2022, he saw a woman exiting Mr Maitland’s car from the passenger’s side.

The witness said Constable Maitland asked again that he delete the footage.

The trial is set to resume next Monday.
