No significant progress made in negotiations between junior doctors and Government, says JMDA
After twelve hours, there was no significant progress in the negotiations between the Jamaica Medical Doctors’ Association (JMDA) and the Government.
Providing an update to IRIE FM news on yesterday’s meeting with the Finance Ministry, JMDA President Dr. Renee Badroe said though the meeting resulted in a few compromises on the part of the Association, it was not productive.
The meeting was prompted by a sickout by junior doctors across the island on Monday, over the continued delay in resolving issues relating to overtime remuneration and retroactive payments.
Meanwhile, Finance Minister, Fayval Williams has remained tight-lipped about her Ministry’s status with the JMDA.
When probed for an update by reporters during this morning’s post-Cabinet press briefing, she said a robust discussion took place at yesterday’s meeting.
