“No apology” – Bunting rejects calls from Gov’t to withdraw comments on Rural School Bus Programme

“No apology.”

That is the firm response from Opposition Spokesman on National Security, Senator Peter Bunting, as he rejects calls from the Government to withdraw his comments on the Rural School Bus Programme.

Speaking at the People’s National Party’s Manchester Parish Meeting in Christiana yesterday, Mr Bunting made it clear he will not retract his statements.

He has strongly criticized the Government’s decision to import used school buses, describing them as old, retired and unsafe for students.

According to him, the buses are not designed to safely navigate Jamaica’s hilly and challenging rural routes.

Mr Bunting further emphasized that if the buses are indeed unsafe, they represent a direct risk to the lives of children.

He said public safety, particularly those affecting school children should not be reduced to a political debate.
